A team of Vigilance and Excise officials, which went to Lakhanpur Toll Post for the Joint Surprise Check to detect irregularities in the functioning of the toll post, was misbehaved and confined in a room for some time by group of transporters at Lakhanpur this morning. Meanwhile, team has collected some records and the action will taken after the thorough investigations of the record collected.
As per sources, two teams of vigilance and excise officials, on the complaints of irregularities by the officials of Toll Post during the frisking of vehicles, arrived at Lakhanpur in the wee hours and started checking all the passing vehicles. Raising strong objections over the check by the team, transporters misbehaved and confined the members of the team in a nearby room for some time due to misconception and later released them.
According to sources, the team has detected irregularities in the weighing of the loaded vehicles. Team has also seized some of the records and future course of action will be decided after the investigation of the records.
