| BJP organizes joint convention of border districts | | Sagir’s report politically motivated: Nirmal | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Dec 27- To make aware the masses of the weak kneed policies of the state and the central government and its consequences on the state’s unity and integrity, the state unit of the BJP organized a joint convention of twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch here today. Member National Executive Dr. Nirmal Singh, who was the chief guest at the convention, in his address, expressed grave concern over the recent report of WG headed by Justice Sagir Ahmed on centre-state relationship and termed it as politically motivated and prepared on the dictates of Congress and NC leaders. He said instead of recommending proper and immediate delimitation to grant due political representation to Jammu in the assembly and end discrimination, it only endorsed what the NC has been stressing for not undertaking delimitation till 2026. He said delimitation is one of the major requirements for healthy democracy and Justice Sagir Ahmed only worked to weaken the democracy. How unfortunate it is that Rajouri, which is spread over a vast area and have difficult terrain, has one seat while Batamaloo constituency of Srinagar city with a very less area has also one assembly seat. He said most of the seats in Kashmir have average population less than 50,000 while in Jammu they have average population of at least 75,000, which is a burning example of discrimination. Freezing the delimitation till 2026 will also harm the interests of the members of the Scheduled Caste community as there can not be any increase in the number of reserved seats also, said Dr. Singh. The BJP leader said the UPA government, under "Quiet Diplomacy’ formula, has started talks with separatists and their masters without disclosing the agenda and the people with whom it is talking behind the scene and without considering the view point of Nationalist people. It is a dangerous move and BJP will not allow it to grant any concession at any cost, he declared. He also condemned the withdrawal of 30,000 troops in one go without taking stock of the ground realities. State Vice-President Chander Parkash Ganga, in his address, appealed the party activists to visit remote areas in order to expose the evil designs of state as well as centre government. State Spokesperson Ramesh Arora (Adv.) while addressing the gathering said BJP will not allow any more division of state on the name of autonomy or self rule. He cautioned the nationalist forces not fall into the trap of the UPA on the issue of resolving Kashmir issue and said that the need of the time is to get united to stop the Congress-led UPA to surrender before the anti-national forces. Party MLA Bharat Bhushan assured to raise the issues pertaining to the people, particularly the SCs in the coming session of the assembly and urged the members of the SC community to strengthen BJP as it is the only political party which has all along worked for their rights and welfare. State Secretary Vibodh Gupta, charged the state government of ignoring the remote and far flung areas in matters of development adding that the elected representatives from Rajouri are more concerned for the welfare of their blue eyed persons and a common man is suffering. He said the government should formulate a transparent policy in extending the benefits of various welfare schemes in remote areas
