Early Times Report
Udhampur, Dec 28- Announcing that all the 11 legislators along with party leaders will sit on dharna outside Governor House on December 30 against Saghir report, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta BJP legislators’ party leader said Mandal level protests would be held on January 4 where copies of the Working Group report would be burnt.
He was addressing a one day convention of party activists of Udhampur and Reasi district here today.
He said the widespread resentment against the report has now made it clear that Justice Saghir Ahmed has totally failed to discharge his duty as an independent body. He said the recommendations in the report are anti-democracy and anti-Jammu as it has not taken into cognizance long pending demand of Jammuites to increase number of seats as per population, area and terrain.
He observed that Justice Saghir’s report has been evasive on ticklish issues like abrogation of Article 370, granting of Autonomy, withdrawal of AFSPA and establishing regional councils for equitable developments of all the three regions of J&K. Instead of coming forth right on these issues, has left it to the centre and the PM to take the decision, thereby diluting group’s importance as a recommendatory in nature, Gupta pointed out.
Member National Executive and former State President Dr. Nirmal Singh, in his address, said that the people of Jammu should not expect anything from the parties like NC, PDP and the Congress, as these parties have ruled the state during last 62 years and proved to be Kashmiri speaking -centric. He said the plight of the refugees from West Pakistan, PoK, refugees of 1965, and 1971, internally displaced Kashmirs, Gujjars, Bakerwals, Paharis and SCs is same as it was on day one.
State Vice-President Chander Prakash Ganga, MLA Baldev Sharma, State Secretary Pawan Gupta, District President Dina Nath Bhagat and Som Raj Khajuria also addressed the convention.
