| Seminar on Bhoti | | Speakers favour due regard to languages | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 29- To highlight their demands for the inclusion of Bhoti language in the 8th schedule of Indian Constitution, Himalayan Buddhist Cultural Association (HBCA) organized seminar on Bhoti Language at Jammu Club here today. Minister for Tourism and Culture Nawang Rigzin Jora was the chief guest on the occasion while Dr Jitendra Singh, Diabetologist, author and popular columnist presided over the functi9on.Dr Nirmal Singh, former BJP state president and Member of National Executive, MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia, SAYSS convener Brig (retd) Suchet Singh, political analyst, NC Women Wing President Laxmi Dutta and Congress leader Prof Hari Om were the main speakers. "As far as development of Ladakh region his concerned the minister said Ladakh witnessed massive development during the past six years adding that the government is committed for overall development of the region. In his presidential address, Dr Jitendra Singh stated that the entire country owes gratitude to Ladakh and its people who have always acted as a shield to protect their countrymen against foreign military aggressions from China and Pakistan. He said that Jammu shares a special relationship with Ladakh and this relationship was based on shared pain and agony of discrimination and injustice meted out by New Delhi's Kashmir-centric approach with regard to the state of Jammu He extended support for their struggle for equitable treatment and particularly for their demand to include Bhoti language in 8th schedule of Indian constitution and the provision of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through Ladakh. Extending his party’s fullest support to the struggle of Ladakh in support of their genuine demand, Dr Nirmal Singh accused successive governments for meting out discriminatory treatment to the region besides ignoring the inclusion of Bhoti language in the 8th schedule till date. Balwant Singh Mankotia termed the demands of Himalayan Buddhist Cultural Association most genuine and said his party will stand behind them in their struggle. Brig (Retd) Suchet Singh deliberated over Chinese incursions in Ladakh and asked the Government of India to take up this issue seriously and start concrete measures over China’s interference in our matters. In this address Prof Hari Om said that contrary to Government claims of massive development in region no development has been seen on the ground as there are no proper roads and other basic facilities. Tashi Targis, the Association President, Convenor Dr. Anil Kumar also spoke on the occasion and highlighted demands of Ladakh.
