7/22/2006 9:37:43 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORTER
JAMMU | JULY 22
Welcoming the Prime Minister open admission that the response of the government to the menace of terrorism so far has been inadequate and that there is the need to have a fresh look on the relations with Pakistan, the state BJP vice- president and spokesperson Prof. Hari Om today urged him to go by the national mood adopt an aggressive foreign policy that is fundamentally designed to isolate Islamabad and dismantle the entire militant related infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. He also appreciated formulation stand of the Indian Foreign Office on Pakistan President’s ulterior formulation on terrorism and asked the Prime Minister’s Office to extend unflinching support to it so that it is able to get back all those terrorists-plus the Hizbul Mujaheein Chief-whose list the BJP-led NDA government had handed over to Pakistan over four years ago. An aggressive foreign policy towards Pakistan has become absolutely imperative in view of its outright rejection of the Indian demand that all the Indian-born terrorists, who have been roaming about freely in Pakistan and exporting terrorism to India, be arrested and handed over to India so that they are brought to justice, said the BJP spokesperson.
Prof. Hari Om said the change in the attitude of the Prime Minster and the Indian Foreign Officer has the potential of sending a right message across the border and other countries, who exploited the UPA government week-kneed policies to the hilt established and their network the bulk of the Indian territories. At the same rime, he expressed doubt if the Prime Minister would stick to what he said the other day. While reflecting his views on the impact of serial bomb blasts in Mumbai and Srinagar on Indo-Pak relations. He said the BJP’s doubt stems from the fact that there is many an element in Manmohan Singh’s government and in the J&K Government who are out to help Pakistan and who are likely to make the Prime Minister take a U-turn.
Prof. Hari Om asserted that had the UPA Government followed the advice the BJP gave to it from time to time, the situation in the country today would have been somewhat different and that the terrorists and mercenaries would not have been able to bring most part of the country within their, tentacles. He further said that it was the abolition of POTA immediately after the formation of the rag-rag Congress-led UPA coalition Government which emboldened the anti India force both within and without to carry on their activities with utmost ease and cause extensive damage to the Indian polity and society. he expressed the hope that he Prime Minister would defeat all the evil designs of Pakistan and see to it that all the demands made by the Indian Foreign Office are conceded by Pakistan.
