| Indefinite strike in JU enters 10th day | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, DECEMBER 29: Continuing protest against the authorities of University of Jammu (JU), the students and scholars of the University, under the banner of National Secular Forum (NSF), today gheroaed the Dean Academic Affairs, who is also acting Vice Chancellor, in his office. The students and scholars, who have been protesting and observing strike since ten days, were agitated over the outburst of alleged marks tampering accused against the University authorities. It is pertinent to mention here that University had suspended one of its employees on the suspicion of his involvement in marks tampering but, the said person denied the allegations and blamed the authorities for same. The agitating scholars and students gheraoed the Dean Academic Affairs Prof N A Ganai. Coincidentally, Registrar Dr P S Pathania and Dean Students Welfare Prof J S Tara and Director Colleges Development Prof Rajiv Gupta were also present in the office of Dean Academic Affairs; and they confined them in the office for nearly one hour. Vikas Sharma, NSF president, who was leading the group of protesters, held the authorities responsible for whole fiasco and made it clear that if they fail to come out with a concrete answer to the questions of agitaiting students, the agitation will enter the next phase. He asked the acting Vice Chancellor to reply on the issue of marks tampering and BEd mass copying cases, which he said has exposed the corrupt practices in University to the whole society. He further said that NSF strongly opposes the opening of the Police Post inside the university campus as the opening of a Police Post inside the Educational Institution is not justified. He said it is highly imperative for authorities to clear the mist as the reputation and credibility of University is going down and down with each day. Earlier, the entire group took out a protest rally in the entire campus and also raised slogans in the offices of Registrar and Dean Students Welfare.Among those who were also part of the protest rally included, Hari dass,InderPal Singh,JagMohan, Mohinder Kumar, Mohd.Wani,Narsingh and others.
