| PHE , PDD employees extend support to EJAC strike call | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 29
PHE Employees United Front (PEUF) has extended full support to the day-long strike call given by the Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) for January 12, 2010. Talking to the media persons here today, the representatives of the front said that the Minister for PHE/Irrigation and Flood Control Department, Taj Mohi-ud-Din, in an agreement with PHE employees, had agreed to concede the demands of the PHE employees. They further said that the demands of the employees were enhancement of the wages of CP and need basis workers from Rs 500, Rs 700 and Rs 800 to Rs110 per day (about Rs 3300 per month), release of one and half days ex-gratia pay, relaxation in transfer policy, introduction of new vehicles against old condemned vehicles in the department, extension of benefit of SRO-149/59 to all PHE technical employees and regularization of workers who have completed seven years tenure. They regretted that the Minister concerned has not fulfilled his commitment even after the lapse of four and half months. He appealed the authorities concerned to resolve all the agreed issues of the employees within week time failing which they would resume their suspended strike. Senior leaders of front who addressed the press conference were Subash Chander, Vinod Sharma, Kartar Chand Dubey, Kulwant Singh, Vijay Luthra, Ram Lahaya, Omkar Sharma, Raman Kumar and Davinder Siingh. Meanwhile , the state president of all Jammu and Kashmir Electric department linemen and workers union, Ghulam Nabi Bhat has assured full support to employees Joint action committee to implement the agreement made by the government with employees. Bhat in a statement has appealed to the state government to fulfill all genuine demands of the employees, otherwise, he further said employees will be compel to go for pen down strike. Among others who also signatory are Surrinder, Ashaq Hussain, Satish Saini etc. Meanwhile, constituent unit of J&K government employees Joint action committee and J&K non-gazetted handicrafts employees association have also extended their full support the strike call on January 12, 2010 given by employees joint action committee.
