Reasi registers 43% plan spending

REASI, DEC 29: Stressing the need for implementation of decisions of District Development Board meeting held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah, the Minister for R&B & Mechanical Engineering, Mr. G.M. Saroori has called upon the officers of different departments of Reasi district to take keen interest and devote their energies for accelerating the pace of development works in a time bound manner.
Saroori who is also the Chairman of District Development Board Reasi District, was addressing a meeting of officers to review the financial and physical achievements registered in the district upto December, 2009 here today.
The Minister for Higher Education, Labour & Employment, Mr. Abdul Gani Malik, Minister of State for Haj, Auqaf and Fisheries, Mr. Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Minister of State for Power, Mr. Shabir Ahmed Khan, MLA Reasi constituency, Mr. Baldev Raj Sharma, President, Municipal Committee Katra, Mr. Ambrish Magotra, Commissioner Secretary R&B, Mr. Mehboob Iqbal, District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Mr. P.K. Pole, Heads of various departments and district heads were present in the meeting.
The meeting thoroughly reviewed the Annual Plan outlay of Rs. 46.13 crores, earmarked for the district for the current financial year.
Saroori called upon the officers to focus on the development of remote, hilly and backward areas of the district with the active participation of the legislators of respective areas. He also asked the officers to personally monitor the ongoing development works in their respective areas and complete the targets within the stipulated time frame. The Minister also instructed called for timely submission of utilization certificates to Government of India (GOI) for ensuring smooth flow of funds.
The Minister of State for Haj, Auqaf and Fisheries, Mr. Aijaz Ahmed Khan stressed the need for development of an Aqua and Floriculture Park near Thanpal area for the attraction of visitors. He also demanded the upgradation of different Government educational institutions to the next level in his constituency, besides establishment of health sub centres and release of pending selection list of Anganwari Centres at the earliest.
MLA Reasi also spoke in details about the problems being faced by the people of his Constituency and sought early redressal of the same.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the DDC Reasi, Mr. P.K.Pole presented detailed sector wise achievements and apprised that out of total outlay of Rs. 46.13 crores for the current fiscal year, over Rs. 15.34 crore have been utilized up to mid December, 2009, that accounts for 43.2 percent. He also projected other future infrastructural and developmental requirements for the district.
