Early Times Report JAMMU, DEC 29: Arrangements for the smooth conduct of ensuing Republic Day celebrations were finalized today at a high level meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Khurshied Ahmad Ganai, Principal Secretary to Governor Mr. R.K Goyal, Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education, Mr. Pramod Jain, Commissioner Secretary Forest, Mr. Shant Manu, Div Commissioner Jammu, Mr. Pawan Kotwal, Secretary Labour and Employment, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Peer, IGP, Jammu Mr. Ashok Gupta, IGP BSF, SSP, Jammu, DC, Jammu Commissioner, JMC, besides heads of various departments. The meeting discussed threadbare, the decisions taken earlier for making the event successful. It was decided that the main function would be held at MA Stadium Jammu, where the National flag will be unfurled by the Governor Mr. N.N Vohra. It was further informed that contingents of Army, BSF, CRPF, JKAP(Men & women), J&K, Police, J&K Fire and Emergency Services, Forest Protection force, J&K Ex-servicemen, NCC(Boys & Girls), J&K Auxiliary Police, School boys and girls, besides, Contingents of winners of sports will participate in the march past parade. The Director, School Education, Jammu and Dy. Director, Youth Services and Sports, Jammu will intimate the names of the school contingents and prepare their list well in time. Besides this, contingents of Bands from Army, Police, BSF and Schools would also participate in the programme. The meeting decided that prominent buildings like Raj Bhawan, Legislature Complex, High Court and other venues will be illuminates by the PDD, H&P, Parks and Garden Deptt., Police, JMC and JDA to ensure aesthly beauty of these places on the occasion. Renovation of offices would also be done to give these places a facelift, besides HoDs of all Government offices also take measures to illuminate their respective buildings. For the participation of school children from the Government as well as private schools in the march past and cultural programmes, a Committee headed by the Director School Education Jammu and comprising the Joint Director of Information Dy. Director Youth Services and Sports and Chief Education Officer Jammu would enlist the items for mass physical display as well as cultural programme. The Committee will also scrutinize the items before their selection for the event. It was further decided that the rehearsals of the march past will start from January 11, 2010 inside the MA stadium under the overall supervision of Dy. Director, Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu. He was asked to furnish a list of the School selected for rehearsal to Divisional Commissioner’s Office, Jammu by this month. The Meeting discussed the arrangements like participation of schools and their cultural contingents, playing of Mangal Dhavani at the main venue and other selected places, sanitation and availability of various utility services at the Stadium, deployment of medical teams, positioning of ambulances and transportation of children to the venue. A calendar was also finalized for rehearsals of the function Winding up the discussions meeting the Deputy Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of the Divisional Administration, Jammu for ensuring foolproof arrangements for making the event a success. He directed the officers for further streamlining of the arrangements so that the people can attend the function in large numbers.
