Govt employees on strike today

Jammu, Dec 29: On the call of Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) all the 4.5 lacs state government employees and public sector employees will go on strike on 30th December 2009. This was announced by JCC members namely Popinder Singh, Ganesh Khajuria and Jagmohan Sadotra before the media person here today. While briefing the media persons the members criticized the state government for back tracking from its earlier agreements made with the employees. There is great resentment among employees as they feel betrayed by the government for not mitigating the already conceded demands of the employees.
The demands are release of 6th pay commission arrears. Removal of pay anomalies of different cadres of the employees. Conversion of COLA into DA for PSU employees. Regularization of daily wagers, contractual, consolidated workers and Adhoc workers.
Enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 years and uniformity, rationalization of HRA.
Members of the JCC has appealed to all state government and public sector employees to make the strike a grand success, so that the state government is forced to implement the earlier agreements made with the state employees without any further delay. The JCC members warned that if the state government still failed to implement already conceded demands then the employees will be forced to intensify its struggle against the anti-employees attitude of the government.
Prominent among those who attended the press conference were Rajinder Gupta, Farid Ahmed Fani, Gopal Singh Jamwal, Gurjeet Singh, Amrik Singh, Darshan Sharma, Vikram Singh, Sat Pal, Sunil Sobti and others.
