| Cultual academy condoles singer Farash’s demise | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 30: A condolence meeting was held by the staff of J&K academy of art, culture and languages in memory of well known singer Abdul Rashid Farash who passed away this morning. The condolence meeting was chaired by secretary Jaffar Iqbal Manhas were rich tributes were paid to late singer, beside a two minutes silence was also observed. Farash was a well known singer who did lots of music shows for radio and Tv during his short life span. He had the distinction of having been one of the finest singers of the modern era. He was the assistant to noted musician Krishan Langoo. With moist eyes, Langoo, who was also present in the condolence meeting, spoke very highly of his disciple whom he described as the greatest singer of Kashmir in recent decades. During his short period as singer Farash sang many melodious songs, renditions which made him popular among people of all ages. While condoling his demise secretary Manhas described Farash’s death as an irreparable loss to the singing tradition of the state.
