| HC asks State to reveal wind on SAC Chief appointment | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 31-In a petition seeking appointment of Chairperson of State Accountability Commission, Justice JP Singh of J&K High Court today directed Advocate General (AG) MI Qadiri to obtain instructions regarding the tentative date/month when the state Government proposes to convene meeting of the Statutory Committee for obtaining its recommendations for appointment of Chairperson and members of SAC. The Court adjourned the case till tomorrow on the request of the Advocate General.
It may be recalled that on November 13, the State High Court had directed the state to take steps for appointment of the Chairperson of SAC without any further delay, unless, state contemplates winding up the Commission, legal impediment, if any, the state shall be at liberty to bring it in the notice of the Court on the next date. Court also clarified that no interim direction is possible for appointment of the members at this stage in view of the mandate of the proviso. JNF
