| 90-year-old charred todeath in jhuggi fire | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 31: A jhuggi caught fire at Maheshpura here early this morning as a result of which a 90-year-old woman was charred to death. A police officer said Prabhavati (90) was sleeping all alone in her jhuggi when it caught fire at about 2 am. The flames were first seen emanating from the jhuggi by some beat cops, who immediately swung into action and took the help of labourers sleeping in the nearby jhuggies to extinguish fire, he added. By the time the fire was extinguished, the old woman had been charred to death. Her family members were sleeping in two to three adjoining jhuggies. The officer said the body was later shifted to the mortuary of GMC hospital. After post-mortem, it was handed over to her family members for last rites.A case in this connection stands registered at the concerned police station.
