| JK Police to digitise crime records | | | Jammu, Jan 1 The Jammu and Kashmir government will digitise the crime data recorded in all police stations and crime department and tenders for the purpose has already been been floated, a senior police officer said here today.
The state police will digitise the crime data with effect from 1996 to 2008 recorded at all the 186 police stations and crime department, he said.
There would a crime data bank and 40 per cent of the work has already been done in this direction, the officer said, adding that they have already invited tenders from interested consulting firms for the purpose.
The present records are in manual written text in Urdu in the form of registers. The data will be translated into English before being digitised. The entire process would have to be completed within six months from the day of allotment of the work, he said.
