| JSM condemns NC leaders’ statement questioning J&K’s accession | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 01- Criticizing the statements of National Conference leaders including Sheikh Nazir, Mustafa Kamal and A M Sagar that Jammu and Kashmir be given internal autonomy and the laws enforced after 1953 be withdrawn, the Jammu State Morcha (Progressive) have reminded these opportunist leaders of 1975- accord reached between the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and late Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah. Prof. Virender Gupta, H.B. Khajuria, Capt. Anil Gour and Chandra Uday Sharma in a joint statement has questioned the silence of these leaders towards the D D Thakur report, who was appointed by Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah to look into all the laws extended to the state after 1953 and needed to be withdrawal. Thakar in his report had stated that all the laws extended to the state after 1952 were beneficial to the state and there was no central law that needs to be withdrawn. Why the NC leaders are silent about the actions of their own governments that extended so many centre laws to the state during their periods of governance, the JSM leaders questioned. By repeatedly telling that the accession of Jammu and Kashmir State was conditional, the JSM leaders said they were befooling themselves and the masses on the issue. In fact, by making such like statements NC leaders want to compete with PDP leaders to appeal the militant groups of the Valley and put pressure on the Government of India for acceding to their demand of Greater Autonomy. It is intriguing that the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and Dr. Farooq Abdullah have remained silent on these statements and it was equally unfortunate that none of the Congress leader at the centre and in state has contradicted these statements, the statement added.
