EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 1 Youth Movement for Peace (YMP) organised a function to celebrate ‘New Year’ with mentally retarded and disabled people of Chotti Theresa, a rehabilitation centre at Old Roulki, Bakshi Nagar here today. The YMP members offered cake and distributed sweets among them, besides exchanging feelings of love and affection with them. People from Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Punjab, Bhopal and Jammu are living in this Centre. Speaking on the occasion, Vikas Sharma, chairman YMP, said, “the objective of celebrating New Year with these people was to give them a feeling of family, love and affection.” “Despite the fact that they are mentally disturbed, still when the cake was cut, they perceived our waves and emotions of love and care for them and all of them leaped in joy,” he maintained. He also urged the government to provide important facilities for these people so that proper treatment and cure can be given to them. Prominent among those who took part in the function included Ranjana Sharma, deputy chairman, Rekha Sharma, general secretary, Janak Dheer, office administrator, Meenakshi Gupta, secretary, Sukhdev, Mani Luthra, G D Singh and Aashita Dheer.
