| Panthers leaders meet PM on Autonomy | | | New Delhi, Jan 1: Panthers Party has said that its delegation led by the party chairman Prof Bhim Singh today called on the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to apprise him of their concerns on the report of Center-State Working Group recommending restoration of autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir. The delegation comprised Harsh Dev Singh, leader of the Legislature Party, Balwant Singh Mankotia, MLA and State President and Yashpal Kundal, MLA. A spokesman said that the Panthers Party urged upon the Prime Minister to treat Working Group on Centre-state relations as non-existent, null and void. Dr. Manmohan Singh received the Panthers Party leaders with a big smile and open arms by embracing them, a party handout claimed. . Earlier, a massive demonstration was held in front of Parliament at Jantar Mantar by the Party activists led by Chairman, Prof. Bhim Singh to register a strong protest against the Justice Sageer Ahmed Report. The legislators, while addressing the party activists demanded holding of fresh meeting with the representatives of the political parties to seek their opinion on the Centre-State relations. They also demanded holding a Round Table Conference on the issue, as they felt that the recommendations if implemented shall take away the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court of India, Election Commission of India, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, besides abrogation of the fundamental rights in the State of J&K. Harsh Dev and other legislators strongly condemned the report for totally rejecting the Jammu-based issues that were raised during the course of deliberations of the said group. It was pointed out that the major issues of Jammu including Delimitation, allotment of equitable number of Assembly and Parliamentary seats to various regions of the state, equitable share of allotment funds for developmental works, equal opportunities of employment, due share in social sectors including health, road connectivity, tourism promotion, accountability and transparency in government functioning, the issues of migrants of Jammu regions were ignored and disregarded at the time of finaliztion of the report.
