| After reunion, cross-LoC visitor dies in cousin's arms in PoK | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 1: Ten days after his long-cherished aim of seeing cousin, who was born after partition in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), was fulfilled, he died in his arms. Nazir Hussain was five at the time of partition in 1947 when his real uncle had migrated to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) along with several other Muslim families from the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri. He was 67 now. Nazir's uncle was settled in PoK's Khaigala village where several migrant Muslim families have their houses. His uncle died few years back, but uncle's son Salam Din still lived there. His family members told Early Times on phone from Rajouri that since Salam was born after partition, he planned to go there to see him and spend some days with him. On December 21 last, Nazir and his daughter left home at Pan Grain in Rajouri and boarded Rah-e-Milan Poonch-Rawalkote bus that took them to PoK. He reached Khaigala same day in the evening. Family members said Nazir told them on phone that he was warmly received by his cousin and the latter's family members at the Rawalkote Bus Stand. They said on December 31 night, he was very happy and had been exchanging pleasantries with relatives when he felt acute pain in his chest. Salam immediately took him in his arms and pressed his chest, but it was of no use. He had breathed his last in the arms of his cousin whom he adored a lot after his birth in PoK. The cousin also took him to a local hospital, but doctors pronounced him brought dead. The matter was this morning reported to PoK authorities, who passed it on to the Poonch district administration. Official sources said the authorities in Poonch later Informed Nazir's family members about his death in PoK. The bereaved cousin and his family members evacuated the body to Chakan Da Bagh crossing point in Poonch this afternoon. At Chakan Da Bagh, the body was received by officials, who then handed it over to his family members, who had also reached there. The body was later brought to Panj Grain in Rajouri and buried in the village graveyard.
