| Soz seeks joint efforts for peace, prosperity | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 1: Pradesh Congress Committee chief Prof Saifuddin Soz has called for joint efforts of all stake holders to usher Jammu and Kashmir into a new era of peace and prosperity in new year and new decade. Addressing a public meeting in Akhnoor, organized by Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma, Soz asked people to cooperate with the administration and take full benefits of the Centrally Sponsored Schemes which have been especially designed for rural and small towns. He asked them to spread programmes and policies of the UPA and State Governments among the common masses at the grass-root level and strengthening the Congress Party. Soz appreciated the functioning of Mr. Sham Lal Sharma and said that the Minister is rightly projecting the demands of Akhnoor people. He said that Akhnoor’s future is prosperous in the hands of present leadership and endorsed the steps taken by him for the development of the town. He promised to help in getting sanctioned some important projects pertaining to the development of Akhnoor which are presently pending with the Central Government. On the occasion of New Year, Mr. Soz impressed upon the people to take a pledge to make the Akhnoor as corruption free Constituency. He said that corruption is a bad evil in the society and it is duty of all sections of the society to get rid from this menace. There cannot be a best message other than resolve to make collective effort to remove corruption from the society on this auspicious day, Mr. Soz asserted. The Health Minister Sham Lal said that Akhnoor town has witnessed massive development in all sectors during the last 3-4 years and entire scenario has been transformed. He said that people are the best judges and they can feel the difference on ground. He said development activities will be further revamped and Akhnoor town will be developed on modern lines, adding that necessary funds have been placed at the disposal of the Municipal Committee, Akhnoor and a comprehensive plan has been devised to carry out the development activities as per the priority.
