A haul of ammunition was recovered when the farmer was digging his field in Aknoor area on city outskirts, police here said today.
Kartar Chand, resident of Chowki Chowra recovered ammunition while he was digging his fields this morning, police said adding that he immediately brought the matter to the notice of the police.
Police party however, rushed to the spot and seized the ammunition, which was ru,sted.
Rusted ammunition including 55 rounds of .303, four hand grenades, five cells were recovered from the site and it is being verified that the recovery might be dumped during 1965 or 1971 wars, a police official added.
