| Declare ‘Jammu, Srinagar as B-1 cities’: Shastri | | |

Jammu, Jan 2: Subash Shastri, President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has urged upon the Union Home Minister to introduce a bill in the coming budget session of parliament for declaring Jammu and Srinagar as B-1 cities.
Addressing a media persons here today, Shastri pleaded that both the capital cities of the State have acquired requisite status as per all parameters to be given for B-1 status. He said that giving B-1 status to both capital cities would ensure more flow of funds for upgrading infrastructures and modernizing civic amenities of these fast expanding cities. He said since cost of living also increased in Srinagar and Jammu, it will benefits salaried class with increasing HRA and CCA.
Pleading the cause of employees and pensioners, Shastri has hoped that the state government would approved the release of D.A installment due from July last A@ 5% in the next cabinet meeting, as the same have already released by the central as well as several state governments has already ear-marked budgetary provision for this purpose in the current financial year state budget. He said essentials commodities have already crossed the price index, which has created number of hardships for salaried class. He also welcomed the timely submission of 13th Finance Commission report to the president by the chairman of the 13th Finance Commission Chairman, Dr. Vijay Kailkar on 30th December 2009 and he said that as soon as report is received by the Central Government, the government should immediately announce the awards for the state government.
Those who also urge present on the occasion included Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sunil Kochhar, Sham Lal Sharma, Vijay Bhagat, Dalip Bhagat, Barkat Ram, Girdhari Bhagat etc.
