| Panchayat elections in J&k soon : Rana | | | Early Times Report
Nagrota January 2, 2010:- Political Advisor to Chief Minister Devender Singh Rana has said that the state coalition government under the visionary leadership of Omar Abdullah has decided to empower the people at grass root level by holding panchayat elections, which will provide ample opportunity to the public representatives at panchayat level to make decisions for the development and progress of their areas.
Addressing series of public meetings at Bhatyari, Upper Badsoo and Khanpur in Nagrota Assembly constituency here today Rana said that restoration of Panchayat Raj in the state would help in a big way to carry forward development plans successfully by involving the public at grass-root.
Rana said massive development plan has been launched in the state to bring about a comprehensive change on socio and economic front and a wide range of economic activities especially in rural areas have already been launched in the state. Rana said while government is creating jobs for educated youths in the government sectors, private investors are being roped in for development of small and medium entrepreneur in the state. He said efforts are on for creating one lac government jobs in the next five years under Sher-e-Kashmir Employment & Welfare Policy for Youth which has been recently launched by the Chief Minister for the welfare of the youth.
Rana said the policy has laid emphasis on employment, employability, skill development while caring for the un-represented and far flung areas that do not have access to formal education. He urged the National Conference and Congress cadres to take the policy to the grass root level so that the benefits of the policy reach out to each nook and corner of the state, which in turn will ensure that the unemployed all over the state are benefited.
He said that Jammu & Kashmir state has great potential for Small and Medium entrepreneur sector and these sectors can be highly beneficial in the rural areas. He called upon the youth to come forward under the leadership of Omar Abdullah and take maximum benefit of this scheme and earn their livelihood in a dignified manner.
Rana said for the upliftment of downtrodden and poor people various social welfare schemes have been introduced and the Chief Minister is keen to pull the poor people out the poverty line by providing them various opportunities of development and economic growth.
Rana said road communication, water supply, health, power and education are five vital sectors and the Chief Minister has laid out a plan to have focused attention in these sectors as these are the sectors concerning the general public especially in rural and backward areas as such receive priority attention.
Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President J&K National Conference while addressing the public meetings said the state government under the leadership of Omar Abdullah has chalked out a comprehensive plan for the overall development of the state especially of remote and far flung areas. He said during the last one year of the coalition government under the leadership of Omar Abdullah has kick started many developmental projects and laid out many developmental plans to be carried out in the next coming years. He called upon the people to come forward and join hands together in the state government’s endeavor under the leadership of Omar Abdullah.
