Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 2

Jammu and Kashmir Anganwadi Workers and Helper Union (JKAWHU) has called for Jammu Chalo programme on January 6 outside Divisional Commissioner Office Jammu in support of their pending demands.

This was announced by Mohd Gafoor Dar, president of the Union in an extra ordinary general body session of J&K Anganwari workers and Helpers today.

He said that the Anganwai workers were struggling for the last more than five years for enhancement of their wages from state share at par with central government share and declaration of promotion list of supervisors.

He condemned the delaying policy of the State Government and Social Welfare department, who have miserably failed to settle the genuine demands of working women in the ICDS.

The Anganwadi Workers and Helpers demanded enhancement of wages at par with central government share, declaration of promotion list of Anganwari workers as supervisors, which is pending for the last more than 2 years, implementation of contributory pension scheme and Anganwari Bheema Yojana to the workers and helpers of the State, release of wages of Anganwari Workers and Helpers of Rajouri and Poonch from 2006 as per the directions of the court, timely release of rent of the centres so that the workers are not harassed by the house owners, transfer of over due staff members posted in various District Head Quarters and CDPO Blocks, who are creating problems for the workers without further delay and amendment in recruitment rules of both Gazetted and Non/Gazetted should be made.

Dar informed that workers and Helpers of 1CDS from all over Jammu province including Kashmir valley will participate the Jammu Chalo Programme.

Anganwari workers representatives Suman Suri, Savita Kakar, Gulshan Ara, Renu Sharma, Shakti Devi, Rachana Devi, Daljeet Kour and others spoke in the meeting and appealed the workers and heifers to observe mass casual leave on 6th January, 2010 and participate the programme in Mjubarak Mandi Complex.
