Efforts on change development profile of J&K : Shabir Khan

RAJOURI, Jan 3: Minister of State for Power, CA&PD and Transport, Mr. Shabir Ahmad Khan today laid foundation of two dug wells, costing Rs. 44 lakh at village Saj and Bhattian of Thanamandi Tehsil in Rajouri district. On completion during this fiscal, these dug wells would provide potable drinking water facility to 4600 souls of these kandi villages.

Addressing a public meeting at Saj, after laying foundation, the Minister said that the Government is striving hard to change the developmental profile of the State, besides fulfilling the aspirations of the people. He said during the last one year of Mr. Omar led coalition government, various initiatives have been taken to boost the morale of the people, especially those living in hilly and remote areas of the State. He said that many developmental projects have been started in hilly and kandi areas for their all round development. He said that special thrust is being laid on upgradation of road connectivity, augmentation of drinking water supply, provision of health care, quality education and power supply facilities across the State.
Giving details of the augmentation of drinking water supply facilities in the district, Minister said that 44 Water Supply Schemes (WSS) at a total estimated cost of Rs. 61.15 crore under Accelerated Rural Water Supply Programme, are apace in Rajouri district. He said after completion of these schemes by next fiscal, 1.55 lakh population of the area would be benefitted.
Mr. Shabir said that in Rajouri constituency 7 new WSS would be taken-up at a total estimated cost of Rs. 12.67 crore under NABARD, adding that the allocation for the purpose has been released under district plan as State share. He said these Water Supply Schemes would provide potable drinking water to kandi villages, including Dhanor, Lohiral, Upper Drari, Sorllala, Manyal, Atti and Gurdan Pain.
