| 45 kg bhukki seized; one arrested | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 03: A truck driver was arrested by police with about 45 kg bhukki at Jhajjar Kotli, about 30 km from here on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, today. The bhukki, crude form of charas, was hidden underneath the rear seat in the truck (HR45/1840), according to police sources. The consignment was on its way from Sangam in Kashmir to Hoshiarpur in Punjab. After having successfully negotiated dozens of police checking points on the way, the truck driver was stopped for routine checking by police at Jhajjar Kotli. Sources said during search of the truck by Jhajjar Kotli police station SHO, Inspector Ajay Bhat, special police officer (SPO) Sharief and cops Gurdev Singh and Kuldip Singh, the consignment was recovered from underneath the back seat. Soon thereafter, driver Devinder Singh of Tugga in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, was arrested and taken to Jhajjar Kotli police station where a case under section 8/15 of NDPS Act was registered against him. The truck was also seized.Sources said Devinder had been clandestinely transporting bhukki and charas from Kashmir to Punjab for the past some time. On December 23 last, 155 kg bhukki was recovered from the possession of two persons arrested by police from a truck at Hatli Morh in Kathua.On December 25, one kilogram of charas was recovered from a youth arrested by police from Sarwal here.
