| PNB opens its 40th ATM in J&K | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 4- Continuing its proactive role in the economic development of the state, Punjab National Bank with its initiative to reach out to the vast section opened its 40th ATM at Miran Sahib. The ATM was inaugurated by Brigadier Lalit Pandey, Brigade Commander, 162 Infantary Brigade R C Kaul, Deputy General Manager, Circle Office Jammu was also present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion Kaul said that this is second Biometric ATM in the state which is having Fingerprint Identification Technology and will cater to the needs of both literate as well as illiterate population of the area. He informed that keeping long queues of pensioners and ex-servicemen in mind and to tap the banking potential in rural areas, PNB intends to open 100,000 ATMs with embedded biometric scanners in the rural areas of India to better serve the illiterate and semi-literate populace. The bank expects to hit the target by 2013 and is also offering many other benefits designed to attract the low-income citizens who generally relying on agriculture and small-scale industries and do not lend their business to a bank. He added that under Financial Inclusion, through technology driven innovative approach, the Bank has enabled to offer cost-effective banking products at the door step of the customer and will help all needy persons engages in micro activities in the vicinity of the branch. Appreciating the performance of the bank Brigadier Lalit Pandey said that customers of the Bank will get unmatched techno-driven services like ATM cum Debit Card, Anytime Anywhere Banking & Net Banking facility. He added that it was the demand of the civilian as well as Defense population for opening of ATM in this border area which now will provide banking services to local population & also to Armed Forces.
