RET Teachers Forum elections on January 10

JAMMU, JANUARY 4
The Election Commission of RET Teachers Forum held a meeting here today under the chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner of the Forum, Farooq Ahmed Tantray, in which all the members of the Election Commission participated.

In the meeting, all the members unanimously decided that the state level election of the Forum, which was earlier to be held on 31st December, 2009, was postponed due to some unavoidable circumstances and now it was decided that the same will be held on 10th January, 2010 at Exhibition Ground, near Press Club of Jammu at 11.00 am sharp.

The Election Commissioner appealed to all the district presidents including other three apex members, to participate in the election.

The nomination form already filled up by district presidents have been received by Election Commissioner and yet only one member, Abdul Gazi, submitted the form for the post of state chairman, for the post of vice chairman two persons submitted their forms and also for the post of general secretary two persons submitted their nomination forms.

The post of chairman, vice chairman and general secretary would be elected by the four Apex members from each district according to the constitution of the Forum. The other portfolio would be allotted by the chairman in consultation with the district presidents and Apex members. Pertained to this it was also important to mention here that the election would be followed strictly by the constitution of the RET Forum and any body trying to disobey the constitution of the Forum would be expelled from the Forum and face the legal action by the Election Commission. The State body of the Forum has already been dissolved due to expiry of two years tenure on 31st December, 2009.
