| Financial assistance to 22 BPL families under IAY in Kathua | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, Jan 4
Twenty two families belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL) of Kathua block were provided financial assistance under the Indira Awas Yojna (IYA) here today. They were given cheques of Rs 20000 each as first installment under the scheme by the MLA Kathua, Charanjit Singh by organising a function in the premises of the Block Development Office (BDO). The BDO Kathua, Chand Kishor Sharma, SO Ragbir Singh, and Panchayat Inspector Kapoor Singh along with other staff member also attended the function. Chand Kishor said that these twenty two beneficiaries were belonging to the BPL and deserving for the financial assistance up to Rs 35000. “We distributed the first installment of Rs 20000 through cheques,” he said. Speaking on the occasion, Charanjit Singh asked the beneficiaries to utilize the amount for the construction of their houses for which the cheques being given to them. He said that the second installment of Rs 15000 would be released to them after conducting verification that houses have been completed up to level. Singh said that the Central as well as state government has launched various schemes for the upliftment of socio-economic condition of the weaker section of the society.
