| PSC to expedite selections | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 4 The Public Service Commission is these days engaged in clearing the backlog vacancies that has been pending in the office files. Official sources said that the Commission has geared up to complete the selection of several hundred gazetted posts that had been referred to it three to five years ago by the Government. According to these sources the selection of several hundred doctors and lecturers had been pending since 2004. Explaining the reason for the delay in clearing the selection of candidates commission sources said that the selection process would get delayed because of errors committed by the Government agencies in the procedure in referring the cases to the commission. Sources said that since there was no vacant seat of members in the commission the selection process had been stepped up. At times some delay in the completion of the selection process is the result of delay on the part of external experts to join the selection team. Usually the Commission prefers subject experts from outside the state so that the selection was fair, free and without any bias. "We are at present trying to clear the backlog because there are posts, referred between 2004 and 2007, sources said. “We are making the selection process totally transparent and in this connection the members and the experts have instructions for carrying out the selection without fear and favour,” sources said.
