JAMMU, JAN 3: All Jammu hotels and lodges association has haled the announcements made jointly by the tourism minister, Nowang Rigzin Jora, Revenue minister Raman Bhalla and Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma about making Jammu city and its surroundings as tourist destinations, to promote pilgrimage tourism at historic
Bahu-Fort, Birpur and Akhnoor as pilgrimage and tourist spots is a welcome decision.
A meeting of the associations held here today under the chairmanship of its President, Inderjeet Khajuria and attended by Pawan Gupta, H S Manhas, Vice President, Sunil Suri, Vikram and Baldev the government in conceding of their long pending demand to create an artificial lake in river Tawi as well as to install cable car between Mubarak Mandi heritage complex and Bahu-Fort with same to be extended to Mahamaya City forest.
Khaujuria urged upon the government to expedite work on these projects and show concrete results in the year 2010, so that Jammu city and its surroundings are developed as independent tourist destinations. Welcoming extension of railway line to the holy town of Katra will facilitate the pilgrims and boost the pilgrimage. The association also haled the forthcoming celebration of Raghunath Bazar Utsav on January 11, 12, 13 and offered its fullest cooperation in making the utsav a grand success.
