| First infiltration bid of Yr-2010 foiled | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 04: First infiltration bid of the New Year-2010 was successfully foiled by BSF troops in Ramgarh sub-sector of Samba late Sunday night. Police sources said when the whole border-belt was covered with thick fog, a BSF patrol noticed some suspicious movement through search lights near Narania outpost along the International Border (IB) in Ramgarh after midnight. The jawans alerted nearby BSF nakas and patrols, waiting for the images to come closer as the visibility was very poor due to fog. Sources said it was at about 1 am when the troops opened fire in the direction of the suspicious movement. A total of 50 rounds were fired by the troops, the sources added, saying no fire came from the Pakistani side. A search operation was launched in the area in the morning, but nothing was found. Sources said as thick fog makes visibility almost blind, the Pak-based militants could make more infiltration attempts in the days to come when the weather remains foggy and hostile.A tight vigil was being maintained by the troops all along the IB to foil any infiltration attempt by the Pak-based militants.
