| Pidilite partners Village Panchayats | | | Mumbai, Oct 8 Pidilite Industries Ltd has joined hands with village panchayats driving the cleanliness programme "Gram Swatchta Abhiyaan" at grassroot level. The panchayati system of governance largely spearheads rural development, and the recent campaign launched by local panchayats - the Gram Swatchta Abhiyaan - is already making great inroads into rural areas.
The objective of this mission is "prosperity through cleanliness", with panchayats across the Nation emphasing cleanliness, self reliance and community sharing. Most villages are taking extra care to keep their surroundings and homes hygienic, clean and soothing to the eye, with a coat or two of lime wash.
Popular time-tested Pidilite products like Fevicol DDL distemper and Piditint (colour pigments) are being used to fortify the lime wash. The Company is also arranging meets at panchayat grams, to educate and train villagers on hygiene and healthy homes/construction by using lime wash, Fevicol DDL, and Piditint instead of tola colours.
Fevicol DDL, a renowned brand of distemper from Pidilite Industries, is widely used in combination with lime as it helps lime adhere to kuccha/pucca walls and minimises peeling and cracking. Moreover, unlike the traditional "saresh" animal glues or binders, Fevicol DDL contains no animal fat. It's application is really simple, and requires no heating. Infact, Fevicol DDL is found to be an ideal replacement for animal glue in lime wash.
And Piditint, also from Pidilite Industries, is being increasingly used with Fevicol DDL in lime solutions. Piditint is a specially-formulated water-based colour concentrate, or stainer, for lime wash and distemper, and is available in 9 attractive intermixable shades.
