| VHP demands CBI probe in Rajneesh’s ‘custodial killing’ | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Jan 5
Kathua unit of Vishav Hindu Parishad (VHP) today held a protest demonstration against the failure of the government to order a probe into the custodial killing of Rajneesh Sharma, who was found dead at Ram Munshi Bagh Police station in Srinagar under mysterious circumstances on October 5 last. Shouting slogans against the state government, hundreds of VHP activists led by district Kathua president Gian Singh Pathania alleged that Rajneesh was brutally murdered in police custody but even after passage of more than three months of time government has yet to bring the perpetrators of the crime to book. While addressing the protestors, Gian Singh lambasted the state government for adopting the sectarian and undemocratic means in the case. He said that instead of providing justice to the bereaved family of Rajneesh, it seems that government is shielding the guilty policemen adding that even a formal FIR has not yet been registered. He demanded the investigation of the matter by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and cautioned that if government failed to hand over the case to the agency, the VHP will launch a state wide agitation against it.
