| Sangam theatre stages Dogri play ‘Karwa Chouth’ | | | Early Times Report Reasi, Jan 5: Sangam theatre group staged a Dogri play “Karwa Chauth” at govt middle school, Buttan. The play produced with the financial assistance by the J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages, written by Ashok Kumar was directed by Vijay Kapoor. The play is an emotional melodrama where in the story has been set in the back drop of a family suffering at the hand of an alcoholic father Pritam who does not provide for the expenses of the family. Punam and Sanju two children cannot go to school due to home circumstances and the wife Laxmi is crushed under the woes of her drudgery. Even the zaildar father of this drunkard is also disappointed with his son. On the even of Karwa Chouth, when the wife along with children are waiting for him at dinner he enter the house and yells at his wife for not serving him with good food and started beating the wife Lakshmi and children’s in a intazation and he kicked rice pot and food spills over without having any mercy for his fasting wife and hungry children, he starts abusing them. Children who can no more bear with the pangs of hunger female baby pickup the food from the floor and started teatime with a song, “Karwa Chouth manana ya, Assayan Rali ya Rutti Khani Ya”. The Artist who performed the role include Ashok Anjum, Mahil bali, Rekha Devi, Taniya Bagal, Madhu Rani, Dali, Raja Aamir Khan, Thazeem and M.A. Khan. Beside this the Sangam theatre also organized a student painting competition and Exhibition in different schools and prize were distributed to the participants and Awardness. VEC members teachers, students included Rattan Singh, Balwan Singh, Subdar Ganga Ram, Sansar Chand. Rakesh Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Ajay Kumar, Mohd. Sadiq and O.P Sharma also were present on the occasion. The Headmaster Desraj was the chief guest on the occasion.
