| Ashok demands opening degree college, polytechnic at Kalakote | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JAN 6: Addressing a worker meeting at village Kurl in Rajouri district Ashok Sharma, Chairman All J&K Kissan Union (AJKKU) demanded opening of degree and polytechnic college at Kalakote to ensure academic and technical education to the youth of this remote, backward and hilly area. He said respective ministers for technical and higher education have made commitment on the flour of the state legislative Assembly and Council that on priority the establishment of said institution of learning on availability of, land which already stand offered by him during the proceedings. He also expressed serious oncern over the non-functioning of the drinking water supply schemes, pending repair of hand pumps and favouritism, nepotism and corruption in the use of water supply through tankers in Kalakote assembly segment. He demanded high level enquiry against those responsibly for failure of drinking water supply schemes, hand pumps non-utility tanker service on pick and choose basis resulting into migration of cattle and human population. He further said inspite of repeated directions of the Deputy Commissioner no improvement has takn place. Prominent among others who attended the meeting included Sethi Prakash, Fareed Ahmed Khanm Digpaul, Ram Ditta, Mohd. Rafiq, Jamit Singh, Bansi Lal, Om Parkash, Abdul Rehman etc.
