| Now onwards, BOPEE examinees to get duplicate answer books | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JANUARY 06 – Government is contemplating to enhance the quality loan assistance to the students pursuing professional courses, said the Minister for Social Welfare and ARI and Trainings, Ms Sakina Itoo while reviewing functioning of Administrative Reforms Inspections (ARI) and Trainings Department at a high level meeting here today. The Minister said that it is proposed to provide a loan assistance of Rs 60, 000 to the students pursing their studies for MBBS and BDS outside the State yearly where as students pursuing the same courses within the state would get Rs.30,000 to Rs.40,000 . Likewise, the students pursuing other professional courses in and outside State would also get enhanced loan facilities, she added. The Minister underscored the need for streamlining the working of ARI and make it more vibrant by taking new initiatives. Ms Sakeena Itoo asked the concerned authorities to ensure Secretariat Training Course to all the Ministerial staff so that they could perform more efficiently while dealing with public interest matters. The Minister was apprised that the department is going to organize a short-term course of 10 to 15 days for in service Secretariat employees very soon. The meeting was informed that ARI has received 78 proposals of recruitment rules from various departments for vetting, out of which the service rules of 56 Departments have been cleared, 15 such cases returned back to concerned departments for want of relevant information while 7 are under the scrutiny. The Minister instructed the concerned officers to ensure issuance of NDC’s to the employees nearing superannuation well in time so that they do not face any problem while settling their pension and other cases. The Minister said that the Government endeavours to provide responsive, transparent and accountable administration to the people, adding that various steps have been taken to ensure quick disposal of the people’s problems at secretariat level. Ms Itoo said the functioning of Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) is being further impressed, adding that from current year the students appearing in any professional examination would be provided duplicate answer books so that duplicate copy of answer book would remain with him for his satisfaction. She said government would also approach to the professional Colleges of other States to seek reservation of seats for wards of militancy victim families. The Minister asked for introducing more professional courses in Polytechnics and other professional Colleges of the State. She directed concerned authorities to take steps for the introduction of potential courses like Biotechnology, tourism management and Corporate Financing in professional and technical institutions of the State owing to vast job avenues in these courses in and outside the country.
