| Inebriated Sadhu gets cops on toes, security screwed up | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 06: A "misleading" phone call to Police Control Room (PCR) here about two youth by an "inebriated" sadhu kept city police on their toes this evening. A senior police officer said a sadhu of Shiv Kuti Ashram at Roop Nagar dialled PCR's hotline Phone Number 100 at about 2.15 pm, claiming that he had seen two armed youth fleeing the ashram area on an unnumbered motorcycle. The officer said when the sadhu informed that the motorcycle-borne youth, who resembled militants in looks, had taken the city route, all checking points on the way were put on high alert. SHOs of police stations were also directed to lay special nakas at different crossings and check every passing vehicle, especially motorcycles, he added, saying the exit and entry points to the city were also plugged. The sadhu was later approached by police for the description of the two youth. The officer said when the sadhu could not satisfy the police queries, he was put to sustained grilling during which cops came to know that he had some another motive behind making the hoax phone call. The officer said the two youth had come to the sadhu for performing a religious ritual on a ring. There was an altercation between them over this issue, he added. When the youth left his ashram showering abuses on him, the sadhu dialled PCR's hotline Phone Number 100 and fed wrong information about them. He wanted them to be detained at a naka and put to harassment. Had it happened, it would have been his revenge with them, the officer said. He said the special nakas were removed after police came to know about the truth. Though no action was taken against the sadhu, police warned him that if he did it again he would be booked under relevant sections of law, he added. He said it seemed as if the sadhu was drunk.
