Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages Limited today
announced a reconstruction project in Baramulla district of Kashmir where
infrastructure in large number was damaged besides loss of large number of
human lives in last year's devastating earthquake.

Announcing the project, Area General Manager of Hindustan Coca Cola, Mr S
Giri Sunder, said that the company has taken an initiative to entirely
reconstruct the building of Government Boys Middle School Kattianwali,
Baramulla which was completely ruined in the quake. Even as there were only
five class rooms in the school previously, the company will get constructed
12 rooms, the AGM added. The company is bearing cost of Rs 13 lakh in the
construction of the school building and the cheque of the same amount was
recently handed over by the Hindustan Coca Cola to the Chief Education
Officer (CEO), Baramulla. The construction of the school building would be
monitored by the CEO.

In addition to this, the company has also taken an initiative to set up a
Computer Education Centre in the school with the objective to impart the
children with latest information technology education, Mr Giri said adding
that the company has happily decided to incur additional cost of Rs 1.5 lakh
on the computer education centre.

Meanwhile, the company has also taken up to augment already existing
infrastructure at an orphanage being run by People's Education Trust in
Baramulla. The Coca Cola company is supporting construction of an extension
wing at the orphanage which will further accommodate 35 to 40 inmates. The
idea behind this initiative is to increase the capacity of the orphanage to
facilitate them to accommodate more inmates in view of a large number of
children having lost their parents to the last year's quake. The company has
provided the trust with approximately Rs 12 lakh for construction of the
extension wing. The trust will implement the construction itself.
