| LUTF deputation meets Governor | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JANUARY 7 – A deputation of the Ladakh Union Territory Front, called on the Governor, Mr. N. N. Vohra, at Raj Bhavan, here today and presented a Memorandum of their demands. The 5-member delegation was led by the Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, (LAHDC) Leh, Mr. Chering Dorjey. The demands projected in the Memorandum included, interalia, grant of Union Territory status to Ladakh. The deputationists also highlighted their views in regard to the report of the Working Group on the Centre-State Relations headed by Justice (Retd) Saghir Ahmad vis-à-vis the aspirations of the people of Ladakh. Other demands presented by the deputation included speedy sanction of the various development projects and provision of more funds for the development of Ladakh. The deputationists also briefed the Governor about the salient features of the proposed Master Plan for Leh town and the need for its early notification to ensure the integrated development of this town. The Governor gave a patient hearing to the deputationists and enquired from them about the recent incidents in the Demchok area, winter stocking position of food grains and other essential commodities, status of air and road connectivity and the pace of development programmes in the area. The members of the delegation included Executive Councillor, Agriculture, LAHDC, Leh, Mr. Tsewang Tundop, Executive Councillor, Health, LAHDC, Leh, Mr. Tsering Angchok, Working President, Ladakh Union Territory Front, Dr. Sonam Dawa and its Senior Vice President, Sheikh Saif-ud-Din.
