| J&K House Panel meets Union Environment Minister | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JANUARY 07 – The Committee on Environment of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, led by its Chairman Mr. Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, MLA, met the Union Minister for Environment, Mr. Jai Ram Ramesh here on Thursday. The Committee stressed upon the Minister that Jammu and Kashmir State requires special attention towards protection of forest wealth and the water bodies, particularly, Dal and Wullar lakes. The Committee further stressed upon the Union Ministry of Environment to ensure timely implementation of the projects. The Committee also stressed upon the need for close coordination between the State and the Centre for yielding good results on ground. The Committee members hailed the Union Minister for approving Rs 350 crore mega project for the development and preservation of Wuller lake and expressed hope that the Union Ministry of Environment will focus more attention towards its preservation and restoration of its pristine glory. The Union Minister for Environment, gave a patient hearing to the demands of the Committee assured full support and also expressed ken desire to visit the State of Jammu and Kashmir very soon to start environmental friendly projects, as early as possible. The Committee Members, who met the Union Minister for Environment, included, Mr. Rafi Ahmad Mir, Mr. Basharat Ahmad Bukhari, both legislators and Deputy Secretary, Legislative Assembly, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Wani. Later, Mr. Nizam-u-din Bhat, Chairman of the Committee thanked the Union Minister for his seriousness towards preservation of water bodies in the State and his desire to visit the State and his efforts for the approval of Rs 350 crore meg a project for the preservation of Wullar lake. He also commended the efforts of both the Union and State Governments in projecting the environment as a key sector
