Development of border, remote areas priority of Govt: Tara Chand

Jammu, January 08-Asserting that meeting peoples’ aspirations and developmental needs was the priority of the Government, the Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand has said that massive development plan and welfare schemes have been launched to ensure overall development of the State.
Addressing a massive public gathering at Baspur, R. S.Pura today, the Deputy Chief Minister said that Jammu and Kashmir is marching fast towards peace and prosperity, adding that this has become possible by the pro-people policies initiated by the Government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah. He said focused attention was being paid towards the development of all the three regions, particularly, border, remote and hilly areas of the State, by ensuring equal distribution of funds.

Hailing UPA Government for providing liberal financial assistance to the State, Deputy Chief Minister said that due to the sincere efforts of Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi the State received a huge financial assistance of Rs 24000 crore under PM’s Reconstruction Package, for the upgradation of infrastructure under all sectors. He said the State has faced many hardships during the years of turmoil which also witnessed vandalizing of infrastructure. “But now the Government during past years, not only succeeded to rebuild the required infrastructure, but also raised new projects under all sectors across the State”, he added.
.Praising people of border areas for strengthening the bonds of communal harmony, the Deputy Chief Minister said that J&K an abode of secular social fabric, was exhibited by border people “Setting aside considerations of caste, creed, and religion they always worked for strengthening the bonds of love, brotherhood, communal harmony and amity in the State and never allowed the enemies of the State and nation to succeed in their misdeeds” , Deputy Chief Minister added.
Mr. Tara Chand appealed the people to participate in large number in coming Panchayat elections and said constitution of these democratic institutions was imperative to ensure percolation of the benefits of development and welfare programmes at gross-root levels.
Responding to the demands of the locals, the Deputy Chief Minister said that people of border areas have faced many hardships during turmoil and the Government would sympathetically consider the demand for special police and other security recruitment drives for youth of the area, with relaxation in qualification. He assured that focused attention would also be paid on upgradation of drinking water, power supply, healthcare, education and road connectivity in the area in a phased manner.
Minister of State for Cooperative, Dr. Manohar Lal, Former Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma, Former Ministers Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak, Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil, Ch. Gharu Ram, Mrs. Suman Lata Bhagat, Mr. Jugal Kishore, besides legislators, Mr Vikar Rasool, Mohammad Amin Bhat and Naresh Gupta, besides Senior Congress leaders Mr. Bhagat Gani Shanker, Mr. Narinder Sharma, Mr. Darshan Raina, Mr. Moheshwar Singh, Mr. Vinod Mishra, Mr. Ashok Sharma, Mr.Pawan Raina, Mr. Vijay Malhotra and Mrs. Namrita Sharma also spoke the gathering .

They enumerated the achievements registered by the Government under various sectors for fast development of the state. They appealed the people to strengthen the hands of Government for making J&K a peaceful and developed State.
