| Intrusion bid foiled in Poonch | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 8: The Army has intensified the search operation after a group of militants, who tried to infiltrate into this side of the border, were pushed back in Balakote sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
''The area has been cordoned off and searches are in progress along the Line of Control (LoC) on zero line as presence of militants cannot be ruled out, though they have been pushed back by the troops,'' official sources said.
The Army foiled an infiltration bid and pushed back a group of militants when they tried to cross over to this side of the border this morning.
''A group pf militants opened fire on army troops near Dadur nullah in Balakote sector of tehsil Mendhar last night to infiltrate into the Indian territory but the troops retaliated leading to a heavy exchange of firing,'' official sources said.
Sources further said that the firing that started at around 2130 hrs last night continued till 0800 hours in the morning, adding, ''the militants were reportedly of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit.'' Wild fire broke out yesterday followed by over a dozen explosion of mine blasts in Balakote sector from where the militants tried to infiltrate.
