| Balwant participates in International Round Table | | | New Delhi, Jan 9- Balwant Thakur, Director Natrang participated in international Theatre roundtable at Delhi in which top theatre directors from India and abroad participated. The foreign countries which represented in this International meet included France, U.K., Germany, Italy, China, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The event was organized by National School of Drama, New Delhi in connection with its 12th ‘Bharat Rang Mahotsav’ in which 86 theatre productions is being featured from across the glove. Balwant Thakur spoke on the new possibilities the theatre today in the world is trying to explore in quest of finding a new role for the intellectual development of the society. In lot many countries, theatre is being used as a medicine and therapy and creative directors have evolved new methods while working with mentally and physically challenged people. Theatre now has reached in the jails and reforming centers as an alternative tool to shape-up disturbed minds. The major issues which came for discussion included the censorship on theatre, theatre music, archiving challenges in theatre. Top Indian directors and theatre personalities, who participated in this meet, included Vijaya Mehta former Chairperson National School of Drama, Mahesh Elkunchwar, Mohan Maharishi, Ram Gopal Bajaj, Bansi Kaul, Raj Bisaria, Sanjay Upadiya, Anuradha Kapoor and Amaal Alana. Balwant Thakur has the credit of having largest number of participations in National and International theatre festivals and is the youngest Indian director who has been conferred with the highest Indian honor in performing arts.
