| Govt taking innovative steps for quality education : Shabir | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, JANUARY 10 – Minister of State for Power, CA&PD and Transport, Mr. Shabir Ahmad Khan has said that education is the best tool to eradicate the poverty from the society, adding that the Government has taken innovative steps to provide quality and modern education to the students across the State.
Addressing at the 25th celebration of New Era Environmental High School, Julahaka Mohalla today, the Minister said that under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah, the Government is endeavouring to upgrade the overall education scenario in the State by establishing new degree colleges and professional institutions besides consolidating the infrastructure in the existing educational institutions of the State. He said that State Government has succeeded to get two Central Universities one each at Jammu and Kashmir from the Central Government. He said opening of these Universities would prove beneficial and enable the students of the State to compete the challenges in the field of education.
The Minister said that streamlining of examination system by J&K Board of School Education has proved beneficial in conducting examinations and declaring the results in time.
The Minister said that youth are the builders of the Nation and teachers should focus their full attention with social commitment towards their education.
The Minister asked the students to devote their full time for pursuing modern education to prove themselves as capable citizens. He appreciated the role of private educational institutions for imparting the education and called upon them to fix a quota in admissions for poor students in their institutions. He also called for imparting moral and physical education to the students.
Among others, Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education and Director School Education, Jammu were present on the occasion.
Earlier, the school children presented a culture variety programmes depicting on Nation strength, communal harmony and amity which enthralled the audiences present on the occasion.
