| Chib launches Pulse polio campaign from R. S. Pura | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JANUARY 10 – In connection with National pulse polio campaign, about 20 lakh children of the age of 0-05 age group have been administered polio drops in about 10,516 Polio Centres set up in nook and corner of the state. This was stated by Minister for Medical Education, Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Mr. R.S. Chib while addressing a largely attended gathering at Community Health Centre, R.S. Pura soon after administering polio drops to several children to mark launch of National pulse polio campaign. These children included newly born infants. Chib appealed the parents to ensure that children are not left without polio drops, which he said is important to eradicate dreaded polio disease. He also appealed the parents, teachers, NGOs and health workers to ensure 100% coverage during the campaign to effectively check re-emergence of polio disease which has been eradicated to a large extent due to successive pulse polio drives in recent years. He said that these drops develop defence mechanism in a child and also immunity by regular immunization.
Referring to other facilities being provided to the patients in Medical colleges and Medical Institutes of the state, Mr. Chib said that latest equipment is being procured for providing hi-tech treatment to the patients at their door steps. He said specialized treatment is now available in major hospitals of the State, adding that patients need not to go AIIMS and PGI Chandigrah for this purpose.
Administrator, Associated Hospitals, Mr. T.angchuk, Medical Superintendent, GMC, Jammu, Dr. Romesh Gupta, Block Medical Officer, CHC, R.S. Pura, Dr. Basant K. Sharma, Dr. Chitra Vashnavi and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
Later, Mr. R.S.Chib attended Nagar Kirtan at Simbal Camp drawn by Navjawan Sabha Simbal in connection with birth anniversaries of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Former Minister S.Harbans Singh, S.Jeet Singh, Dr. Daljit Singh, Dr. Jaswinder Singh and Master Baldev Singh also attended the Kirtan and paid obeisance to Guru Granth Sahib.
Speaking On this occasion, Mr. Chib described Nagar Kirtan an auspicious moment for the people of the State in general and Sikh community in particular He prayed for peace and prosperity of the State. Thousands of devotees participated in the Nagar Kirtan.
