Bahu Fort to get community hall, Bhalla launches work

JAMMU, JANUARY 10-Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Mr. Raman Bhalla on Sunday laid foundation stones of Ground Water Service Reservoir (GWSR) at Batala in Sunjwan, coming up at a cost of Rs. 3.89 crore.

Addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone of GSWR, Mr. Bhalla said that with the completion of reservoir, the water shortage in Upper Batala, Nallah mohalla, Kasana Mohalla, Shamanu Mohalla, Gaziabad, Sunjwan village, Firdousabad, Zubirabad and adjoining areas would be addressed to large extent. He said that coalition Government was committed to provide all basic amenities including road connectivity, health, education, drinking water and electricity to the people on priority. He asked the people to closely monitor execution of development works in their respective areas to ensure judicious use of funds. He asked the engineers to complete the ongoing development works within stipulated time frame by using quality material. He said that there will be no compromise on the quality of work.

In order to overcome the traffic jam on Sunjwan-Bhatindi road and to provide to and fro facilities to the people of the area, Mr. Bhalla said that Government has approved Rs. 15 lakh for 1200 meter road widening and construction of culvert at Nawabad Sunjwan. He asked the executing agency to complete these by March 2010 for the benefit of people.

Responding to the locals demands, the Minister said that Government has sanctioned Rs. 1 crore for upgradation of 6.6 KVA receiving station upto 10.5 KVA at Bathindi. He asked the people to pay electricity tariff regularly and use electricity judiciously. The work on it would be start soon. He asked the locals to donate land for construction of Government Primary School at Batala in Sunjwan so that the children could take education at their doorsteps.

At Narwal Bala, Mr. Bhalla inaugurated Government Primary School Building, completed at a cost of Rs. 4.40 lakh under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan by School Education Department.

Corporator Mr. Chamail Singh, Chief Education Officer, Jammu Mr. Natha Ram, locals and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.

Responding to the demands, the Minister asked the R&B engineers to prepare the estimate for construction of additional 2-room, link road to school and compound wall and submit proposed for funds so that the work could start soon. He asked the people not to damage public property. He informed that the proposal for construction of mini tube well at Kerani Talab is under tendering process. He said after completing the tendering formalities the work would be started.

Later, Mr. Bhalla also laid that foundation stone of community hall in presence of PCC President Prof. Saif-ud-Soz at Sheikh Nagar in Bahu Fort being constructed at a cost of Rs. 87 lakh.

Ex-MLA Mr. Yash Paul Khajuria, senior Congress leader Th. Shivdev Singh, Corporators and officers of different departments were present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Soz said that development of remote and far-off areas is priority of Government. He said that there is no constraint of funds in completing the ongoing projects in the State. He said that most of the visiting tourists and pilgrims first come at Bahu Fort for having darshan to Mahakali temple and Shri Vaishnodevi Shrine. He said the sites needs to be developed on modern lines by providing all basic amenities.

He said focused attention is being given to improve basic amenities like augmentation of water, power supply besides provision of better healthcare and imparting of quality education in every nook and corner of the State. He said that coalition Government is ambitious to redress the genuine issues of refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971. He said that various initiatives have been under active consideration of Central and State Governments and hoped that all the issues would be simultaneously solved for the over benefit of these people.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bhalla said that with the completion of Community Hall, the locals are availing the benefits by arranging marriages as well as other functions there. The Minister asked the officers to work with zeal and dedication and provide best services to people by solving their problems without any delay. He said to provide a fair administration to the people was the priority of the present Government.
