| ‘Intzaar’ staged by Natrang in Sunday Theatre | | | Early Times Report Jammu , Jan 10 Sadat Hassan Manto’s short play Intzaar staged at Natrang’s Sunday Theatre under the direction of Sumeet Sharma. The play presents a very hilarious situation in which a boy is waiting for his beloved to come in a much awaited meeting. The story of the play speaks of Manto’s genre and the presentation expressed the style of Sumeet. ‘Mantzar’ is waiting for his girlfriend very anxiously, to the extent that even half an hour is very difficult to spend. He speaks with his own self and innovates different ways to pass the time calmly, he discusses the daily budget, music, literature etc. whatever he could think to divert his attention from the palpitation which he is feeling in the process of waiting, but nothing works. To make the situation even worse, some unwanted guests arrive which make his condition miserable. Finally when the time of meeting comes and the girlfriend arrives, he falls unconscious because of overtiredness. The girlfriend thinks he is unconcerned about the meeting and is sleeping, in the disgust, she leaves and the much awaited meeting turns to be a flop show.
Mohit Sharma as ‘Mantzar’ was successful in getting the appreciation of the audience by putting real life feel in the character. He was equally supported by Rohit Verma as his Inner Self. Tania Anand as the girlfriend was equally confident despite her debut performance, Rahul Singh as Friend and Arvind Singh as Newspaper Vendor impressed all with their performance. Lights were operated by Pankush Verma, Mohd Yaseen coordinated the show and the presentation was done by Bela Thappa.
