| J&K House Panel meets AP CM | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JANUARY 10 – The Environment Committee of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, which is on study tour to various states of the country, on Sunday called on the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr. K. Rosaiah and discussed various issues on environment particularly concerning with the Jammu and Kashmir. The Committee is led by MLA Mr. Nizamu-ud-Din Bhat. The meeting lasted for about an hour. The Chief Minister appreciated efforts of the Committee in projecting environmental issues which have now become a global concern. The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh agreed with the views that different states which have similarity in environment concerns should pool their resources and wisdom in protecting environment as well as managing the water resources. The Chairman of the Committee sought cooperation of the Andhra Pradesh Government to help Jammu and Kashmir State in maintaining the environment which is primary requirement for development of tourism in the state and also strengthening state’s economy. He also suggested that Andhra Pradesh and J&K should go for joint ventures in environment conservation and promotion of Urdu language as both these sectors are vital for the two states of historical importance. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister suggested that a seminar on environmental issues should be organized jointly by the two states in which environmentalists and academicians of both the state should participate and put-forth proposals. Syeed Basharat Ahmad Bukhari, Peerzada Mansoor Husssain and Mr. Rafi Ahmad Mir, legislators, besides Deputy Secretary Legislative Assembly Mr. B. A. Wani and other concerned officers of Assembly Secretariat were present on the occasion.
