Early Times Report
Udhampur Jan 10 –Ignoring the strict instructions of the Party High Command for maintaining discipline in the party rank and file, the District Congress Committee Udhampur is pulling in different directions. While on one side J&KPCC Chief Saifudin Soz is strengthening party roots in the state on the other hand some elements within the party in Udhampur district are giving wrong signals to majority of workers and common populace by organizing parallel monthly meetings other than at district party headquarter.
In Udhampur district, on every month District Congress Committee holds its monthly routine meeting at its party office near Barrian mohallah under the chairmanship of Its District president Bhupinder Singh Pathania or its Urban President Brij Mohan Sharma where party’s program and policies are discussed in routine manner. However, some leaders and workers, dissatisfied with district body, are organizing parallel party monthly meeting at Shah Complex under the leadership of Shakeel Shah and Vijay Manhas.
Due to the defection in party, rivals faction in party has declared a war against party leaders without caring for party discipline. The reports from inner sources and gross root workers who really care for party are worried with parallel meetings of party in district. Instead of strengthening the party they are weakening the party, the sources said.
When District President Congress Urban Brij Mohan Sharma was contacted in this regard, he said that the District body monthly meeting is being held on 4th of every month from last couple of years and it was started by our senior leader and party MLA Balak Ram to strengthen party but now some workers, having no patronage from senior leaders of the district body are holding parallel meetings which is totally against the party discipline. He admitted that such parallel meetings by the rivals will in no way strength the party but will harm party’s interest in future .He added that party workers are honestly working under district body taking polices and programs to the common masses living in rural areas.
