| Bukhari launches crusade for getting justice for Paharies | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 10- Former Minister and Chairman of Pahari Cultural and Welfare Forum Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari today announced to launch a crusade for getting justice for the Pahari community. On his first visit to the Rajouri and Poonch, after taking over as Chairman of the newly constituted Forum, he held meetings of the Pahari people at Rajouri and Mendhar urging upon the community to launch crusade in support of Scheduled Tribe status. He said that his organization met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and apprised him about the genuineness of the demand. He said that Omar Abdullah was also briefed about the past recommendations, resolutions and cabinet decision of 1989. During his visit, Jammu & Kashmir Pahari Peoples Movement Chief Executive Shahbaz Khan extended full support to the Forum and said that ST status is the basic right of Paharies and the state cabinet in 1989 recommended the Centre Government for granting scheduled tribe status to 7 tribes with Paharies. He said while other six got the status but Paharies were denied the same due to some unknown reasons. Other leaders accompanying Bukhari included Advocate MR Qureshi MLC, Khalil Ahmed Johar senior Pahari leader, Azam Sagar Provincial President of Forum, Haji Sadeeq Mir Fazal Khan, Subash Chander and Qayoom Khan.
